April 2013 Post-Op Group

Recommended Posts

I was having trouble sleeping too. Called my surgeon and they recommended dissolvable melatonin- I got mine at Walgreens. It has helped me so much! I slept only 2 hours Sunday night but since then much better.

Me on my birthday' date=' Nov 2nd, at my heaviest (290). And the other was about a week ago (222). ... I never truly realized how big I was. I'm excited for all these changes! :)

I feel the same way when I look at older pics of myself. I think how in the world did I get this big and not notice!

All I did today is drink Water like crazy because its hot at my house no air conditioner and now im on my lunch break or should I say water break

The heat always makes me crave water more. That might be the ONLY thing I like about the summertime. Maybe the smaller I get my outlook on summer might change.

After standing on my feet for 8hrs I am tired but I feel like I must do some type of exercise. I think I'm gonna force myself to do zumba. How does everyone else do with working and exercising?

I'm ashamed!!! I'm slacking alot since I've went back to work cause the hours and the commute and just so hot I'm having to force myself to keep moving. Nothing like I was just 2 weeks before even. Excuses I know but my fatigue is still kicking my butt. Hope he does some labs tomorrow make sure I'm squared away. Can't believe almost all our April peeps here are about 2 months!!

I'm also 10 weeks out' date=' I've lost about 1/3 of mine. I had 4 inches cut off so the curls might bounce up a bit and look fuller.

Good news I can always order a fabulous wig from one of those drag queen fashion websites, LOL!

Also try the Biotin Shampoo and conditioner... You can get it from Walmart. My mom started using it and she says her hair has been fuller! Hope it helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
