I hope so. I've only lost 12 since surgery. It seems like a lot...but not when you consider what I've been able to eat...which is like..nothing lol

Keep in mind a pound is 3500 calories...a lot of times when you're post op your metabolism slows down so you're not burning as many calories as usual and most people aren't as active as they were pre-op at least for a bit so you're not burning as many....12 IS a lot!! N

For the folks that are discouraged about not losing weight, let me ask you guys this? What kind of exercise/activity are you guys doing? This is merely a TOOL for your weight loss...you will still need to be more active. Even though I just had my surgery on the 11th, I don't make it a priority to step on the scale. In my opinion, you guys should stay off the scale and start working out...hard work pays off!

I've been walking two miles daily, which is all I have been cleared for. I'm not sure if you meant that comment to sound judgmental, but I feel that it did. We are all here after quite a bit of hard work, and are all very aware that this is not an easy way out. We come here for support, and sometimes that means venting frustrations. I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey, and I hope that you find in this forum a group of supportive people willing to listen through good times and those of frustration.

Finally diet advanced to puréed foods from clear liquids. The first thing I have had in a week that I couldn't see thru. It's a hard boiled egg chopped up fine in my magic bullet. Tis is the best thing I have ever eaten. Lol. I wish I felt like exercising. I am still on the losers bench down 37.2 pounds. But I know I have to start exercising soon. I am feel that by finally advancing my diet to more than clear liquids maybe I will get some energy back. Good luck to everyone

I was able to walk for 25 minutes yesterday before feeling faint and had to walk home. I was only about 5 minutes from my house. Prior to surgery I would walk my whole neighborhood at a quick pace and it would take 45mins. Yesterday it was slow moving. I want so bad to be able to work out normally to boost weight loss, but I'm not there yet.

We'll get there! Your body just went through major surgery. My doc days it will probably take 3-4 weeks to get back to normal energy and pre-surgery activity levels. Good on you for getting out there. Keep trying, it gets easier!!

Thanks. I have my one week follow up today and will see what I've lost. I had my friend take my scale so I won't be obsessed. I have decided to weigh every month on the 8th since my surgery was on 4/8. I have high expectations and hope I lost a lot to help me press forward through more liquids....

I'm required to walk 25-45 minutes a day but that's all I've been cleared for. I'm not up to 45 minutes yet. Makes me feel ill. It's back to work on Monday, I work full time and only had 3 weeks off, but the notion remains the same. Calories in and calories out is dietician 101. You would think it would take more to run my body than the 500 calories I manage to choke down. If that. In my opinion.

My intentions are not to judge or berate anyone. I was simply asking for more information and offering a advice based on my opinion. I apologize if it doesn't come off as "supportive" but that's your opinion. I understand that people have their frustrations and want to vent but I really don't see any issue with how I responded. If someone steps on the scale daily, for example, they may drive themselves crazy.

Just got back from a short walk around the block. Only .67 miles and I'm pooped. I normally walk at least 3 miles a day. Tomorrow is one week so hopefully the endurance will improve.

Well I have only read a couple of your comments and feel that you are not sounding supportive at all. Maybe you have poor communicative skills I don't know.

Just had my first matrix cookie mint shake since pre op. Still tastes just as good. Plus the 23 grams of Protein helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
