Mine was put in after I was 'out' and taken out before I came back 'in' lol....so I have absolutely no recollection.

Mine was put on for surgery and I had it for a little over 24 hours. DIdn't bug me at all and previous ones have. I was very thankful for it as I had bad nausea and was knocked on my a$$ for 48 hours from it (due to the fentaynl) they had given me. I have read that some didn't have cath's. Every doctor and program is different.

That put mine in on the surgery table while I was knocked out... And they removed it like in 24 hours.

Reality is.. that catheter will come in handy when you come out of surgery. Your stomach will be sore and the morphine pump will be connected to you. Your major focus will be on hitting that button and relaxing through the surgery pains.

If the Catheter is your biggest fear... You will do really well.

What they said....plus what you had before is an entirely different creature. A catheter is annoying a bit but really is not ye huge deal some people make it out to be, just a fact of surgery!

I had a catheter too. They put it in after I was "knocked out" so I woke up with it in place. They took it out a day later. I found I was sore getting up/out of the hospital bed so it helped not having to get up as much the first 24 hours to go to the bathroom. I couldn't even feel it was there.

I had one as well. Three actually. The first put in on the surgery table while I was out. They removed it while I was still in icu, but dealing with complications. So needless to say a new one went in. After 24 hours tried it again without that one, again had to insert a new one. They are not uncomfortable to have in. Felt like to me it helped me ease into recovery a bit better. Having new ones inserted when you are not knocked our was a little painful. Good luck to you!

I've never had one while awake and I'm hoping I don't....but I think it's just the idea of them having to remove it. Ouch. I understand the worry. I'm probably making it more than what it is.

I dont even remember the catheter coming out.....so it must not have been too big of a deal..... I do remember having it 24hours post op but it was a life saver cause the last thing u want to do is get out of bed to pee after just having wls.

The catheter doesn't hurt when removed. What keeps the cath in place is a balloon filled with saline solution. They withdraw the solution and pull it out. Plus you will have other more discomforting pains then the cath.

Gas pains. Incision pains. Nope, shouldn't have tried to bend down and get that pains. :) The cath didn't hurt and I just had mine removed a few days ago.

Not as bad as I was worried about. I have 5 small incisions on my belly. My inside is sore. Lying in the hospital bed made my hips hurt...I had really bad gas and finally ended up having to use some meds to get stuff going. I'm still getting rid of it. Mine was so bad it was putting pressure on my ability to breath and cough. Just too much all in there. If I bend or something it feels like one of my incisions rips. I don't think it does...it just feels that way. The catheter removal was fine. i couldn't even feel it in at the time and the removal just stung. I had an issue where where I swelled after the cath and wasn't peeing on my own. I had to run my hand under Water and kind of meditate to relax everything or they were going to recath me. It's not all that bad. The drugs were good. I'd give a lot to still have my Morphine pump. I had my hand on that button the whole time.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
