Dr. Caluda, Pensacola Florida..

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any experience with this doctor?

When I spoke to my Doctor he said he was going to send me to see Dr. Nye in Penascola (whom I researched and was feeling quite comfortable with) but my refferal came in the mail today and it tells me to call Dr. Caluda. I don't know much about him and can't find much on him when I do a seach. I did find a site for his surgical clinic but that gives little information as well. :phanvan

I looked to see if I could find anything on him on Obesity Help, but I couldn't find his name. There was a Dr. Joseph Colleta, though, in Boca Raton, but he does RNY.

Nope the insurance company got it wrong. It was Dr. Lord in Pensacola. I have a tentative appointment to see him as well as Dr. Nye also in Pensacola. I will get to choose after all!!

Can't wait for a Monday!

Hello Sissy,

Please keep in touch with me and let me know which doctor you decided to go with. Dr. Lord's office moved my appointment up to March 17th. I was told that Dr. Lord prefers to do Gastric By Pass surgery instead of the band.

I am seeing Dr. Lord in Pensacola as well for the Lap Band Procedure. It does appear that he prefers the Gastric Bypass, however he was wonderful about listening to me and my concerns, and at the conclusion of the consult said, 'Well for you, I think the lap band makes an excellent choice."

Not that Dr. Nye does not have a great reputation, but Dr. Lord is awesome and comes very recommended by several physicians in the area and tons of happy post op patients (I feel like I have talked to all of them!)

In addition, Dr. Lord's team is wonderful; they are all a class act!

Good Luck and keep us posted!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
