Any suggestions for Soups? I just can't take another shake.

Even for just 6 days out? I would just like to have anything besides another freaking crystal light or shake

Oh I'm 11 days out, you don't want to rush it and end up dumping, I would just drink broth.

unjury has a Protein flavored Soup. Also fat free cream of chicken .. Just ad unflavored Protein. I would also drink sugar free international Swiss mocha with a scoop of protein (make sure it isn't over 140 degrees when you ad the protein) fat free mushroom soup is also good. Make sure you purée any chunks.

Panera has French onion. Wonder if without croutons it would be ok?

I would stay away from the Tomato and the french onion, like the others said follow what your sheet says there is a reason for it. If you absolutely have to strain low fat cream of chicken or cream of mushroom Soup.< /p>

I lived off of Tomato Soup for the first 2 weeks, and it was on my approved list. If you're unsure, ask the nutritionist or someone at the surgeons office. I don't see why not if you're tolerating it fine.

My plan called for creamy Soups the day I went home (1 day post). I found a cream of Tomato and ate that with a scoop (ok... Like a teaspoon) of ricotta cheese (also approved). It was like a gourmet Italian dinner minus the Pasta.

I'm now 10 days post and the other things I'm allowed are sugar free pudding, SF Jello, melted cheese, broth, puréed baby foods including meats.

Funny how everyone has different instructions and diet guidelines. Anyone know where I can look for some post op diet food guide lines ;)

I was really interested in Soups too but at my 1 week appt yesterday my Dr suggested that I not focus on any soups until I've mastered getting my Protein and Water in. Said that I'll notice that I won't have time or room in ny stomach for Soup.

If Anyone has figured out how to do this. Please let me know. I love soups!

Hi! im only 7 days post op but I recommend trader joe's Latin style black bean Soup. It already has Protein from the Beans but you can add some unflavored Protein to it too. The best thing it's that it also has lots of Fiber which helps with digestion! And it's delicious.

I also strained egg drop soup tonight. It counts as liquid intake which is #2 in the priority list. Yum!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
