Wishing, Hoping, and Dreaming...

Recommended Posts

I keep finding myself hitting the stores to look at small clothes. Is anyone else doing this? In my discussions with my Psychiatrist we discussed previous weight losses and what I hope to get out of WLS surgery. I told her that aside from good health and to feel good I would be happy to reach a size 14. She said to me "Oh I am sure you will get smaller than that." I am 4'11" but size 14 is the smallest I ever got in my failled weight losses since having children (14's were breif visits between my sz 20's and 22's). I was flabbergasted! Could I REALLY get smaller than that? So now I go to petite sections of clothing stores all over the place looking through racks and racks of 14's and 12's, and daydreaming of someday actually buying them. I feel guilty, like I am tresspassing, and I don't belong there. I keep waiting for a salesperson to direct me to the plus-size section. The longing I'm feeling for those smaller clothes is so INTENSE! That is what I dream about...

And I also dream about fitting comfortably on the back of my husband's Harley! :D

I for sure daydream all the time now. But out of all the clothes I can't wait to get a snowsuit, and been googling alot to find just the perfect one. I miss so much to wear a snowsuit and feel tostie outside in the snow.

I've never had a snowsuit but a warm cozy coat that I can button would be nice. I couldn't button any of my coats this winter so I was forced to buy this hideous plaid thing that my husband calls my "Lumberjack" coat. It was actually sort of stylish but the look was wasted on a very short heavy person. I'm looking forward to being comfortable in the summertime. Maybe it won't be this summer but definately next summer.

You should be able to find a great deal on a snowsuit now that winter is over. Buy yourself one and make it your goal to wear it someday! Enjoy the anticipation. :)

Winter is not completelly finishef over here yet. But last autumn a big department store here closed all its shops and had a big sale. Oh I remember looking at all the snowsuits thinking I wanted one and wondered if I should buy one in case I might someday fit in one. But I had not decided on the surgery at the time so I had no real faith I would so I walked on by. Man do I regret now not buying one, just the style I like and so cheap. Snowsuits are very exspensive here, 100dollar ones are considered cheap. :-(

Hi I Personally would not do that because you never know where your going to lose the weight and how small you're going to get. this is just my opinion good luck to you.

Just looking, not buying. Looking and imagining. For me it's a great incentive to keep me on track with the better choices I've been trying to make pre-surgery. My dietician wants me to implement a lot of the food choices and eating habits now that will be necessary after surgery. Higher Protein choices, fruits and veggies, smart Snacks, chewing slowly and thoroughly, sipping fluids all day, and Vitamins. I am doing all that but sometimes it's hard and looking at clothes inspires me.

I do not have unreasonable expectations. I want to be healthy, feel good, and enjoy life. If I can indulge in buying pretty things someday that is only a bonus, not a goal.

I do this too. I used to love clothes. Now I wear what fits. I can't wait to wear something because I like it and not because it covers my skin!

When we wer clean out my moms house last year i found a box of clothes from when I was in my wary 20s I keep not sure why but I did I'm 57 now they were all jeans I have never really been able to buy pants that fit so I made them cause I've always had a very small waist and bigger hips and legs My dr asked if I had a goal I said yes if I could got those pants on even if waist dust button I would be very happy

A good while before surgery I bought this pair of shoes Suade Crocs fur lined I really didn't think I was going to be able to wear them but they were $150 and on sale for $20 so I got them and couldn't even get my foot in them so gave to my daughter will last night my granddaughter came downstairs wearing I told her let me try them on really didn't think they would fit and got so excited and screamed they all came running cause thought something had happened and asked what I said they got even with my socks and they all laughed at me and said don't do that again cause I scared them I've had a few problems but it just made me really happy that they fit

It's not a good feeling to have to buy things with the only criteria that THEY FIT. I want to buy something because I LOVE it and I want to pass on things that just FIT. Such freedom!

Plus size clothes have never fit me right being so short (4"11" or 5" - depends on who's measuring :P ). Everthing is too long and the waist and/or bust falls too low. There doesn't seem to be a true petite in plus. You start to pretend that you don't really care how you look (but inside you really do), you bury the embarrassment deep inside, and avoid social situations that most people dress up for. My daughters are both in serious relationships and may marry someday soon. I want a pretty mother-of-the-bride dress... and I don't want to look like a "weeble" in wedding photos.

So I look and daydream... and it renews my resolve to do this right. B)

I am barely 5ft 1in and I have shorten all pants. One time I bought those pants that are supposed only go down half the leg below the knee, but they fit me perfectly as a full lenght.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! Lol. My mother-in-law is 6 ft tall (Norwegian). Everything was too long on me and too short on her. We used to joke about buying the same pants - I could cut off the excess and she could sew it onto hers. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
