I think it's cause you have to keep up with so much your food Protein Vitamins exercise and Drs visits your blood work this is a lot to deal with so I think it will just take a little while to get adjusted to all the changes after all its not just surgery it is a lifestyle change and changes take time Remember all good things are worth WAITING for and that's a better HEALTHIER LIFE

I've started to "try" and not talk about it as much. Very hard to do!

No I found myself telling a complete stranger at Water aerobics!!! I was appaled at myself afterwards!! It was like why the hell dud I just tell a complete stranger that!! So weird.

I know what you mean. Everytime I say something to a complete stranger... I think to myself ... what the hell. The lady at SAMS was handing out samples and instead of saying no thank you ... I said... I have had gastric bypass and I really cant... wth... like she cares!!!

We ran through Wendy's the other night to pick up dinner after soccer practice. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and baked potato (was going to take the bun off), got around to the window and the told me they were out of baked potatoes, I could have salad or fries. I'm 6 weeks post-op, I can't have salad for 2 more weeks and I'm just not gonna have fries. Rather then say cancel my order I went in to a big gastric bypass speech.....I am such an idiot :D

I know my kids are tired of hearing me talk about it but I'm trying to get all the info I can so that I am as prepared for the life changes I am making. What they do not realize fully is that they are making the changes also!!!! So I am not just wanting this surgery for myself to become healthier but all of us. Does that make sense, or am I just pushing this onto the kids unnecessarily?

No, my family is also going to make the change with me!!

I agree it's a life change and I think we are excited and ready to do this. My husband will have to make changes as well and he's totally cool with it. Never says honey can we talk about something else! Lol I'm going to try to tone it down but no promises!! Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
