Cherry 71 Posted April 18, 2013 I'm kinda happy that I'm doing this alone to be honest.... So my experience has been great! Then again, my surgery was only 13 hrs ago As I've mentioned elsewhere, I have dreadful anesthesia issues. This time wasn't horrible but not perfect. I was nauseous the entire time after surgery & was given a lot of meds. The scratch down my throat is 10x worse than my surgery lol I actually began sipping Water pretty quickly just to ease my throat. Then there was the awful pain on my shoulders. Felt like a horse kicked me. So I was peeing & I noticed blood on my gown. Took me 2 hrs to figure it out; I had some drainage from an incision. Thing is, I have NO pain from surgery & forgot I had incisions!!! No problems really. I HATE the nebulizer in my nose though.
Tiggy 14 Posted April 18, 2013 If you need it, please consider getting a home health care aide to help out for at least your first few days back. I had one on stand-by in case my mother proved unreliable. I had a rougher road to recovery than many (no complications thank goodness, but a lot of pain), and at the beginning needed help with really really basic stuff, down to not being able to pull down my own underwear when I had to pee. I don't know how I would have managed without a pair of helping hands there. If you don't have anyone lined up, someone at the hospital may even be able to help you to arrange to get someone using your insurance. Best of luck with your recovery.
