I get to go home this morning. I will be able to rest a lot better. My surgeon says I will have to be sipping all day to get the adequate hydration in order to not dehydrated. It's tough for me to get the liquids down. Which is why I was here 3 night's. I guess my best friend will be my cup for a while. He says it will get easier. Is it tough for everyone else to get liquids in?

Surgery date: May 14' date=' 2013[/quote']

My pouch likes cold cold fluids only. Some like warm only.

I felt bloated and thought/ think good lord theres no room for fluids.

Just stay hydrated. It gets easier.

Welcome to the losers bench.

Got home today' date=' was in for 3¹/² days, low oxygen levels and a fever kept me in. For pain I had morphine pump and liquid Oxy. They let me keep my pump until this morning, and sent me home with the liquid. Also got a prescription for nausea patch that goes behind my ear if needed. Gas has been my enemy because I can't pass any. Sipping on nectar Protein, when mixed with Water tastes like lemon tea, it contains 23g of protein per scoop. When I get more strength I'm gonna try some of the recipes they have me.

Gas was my enemy too - big time - fely like I was dying with pain - was advised alpine tea and have not had a problem since :)

I'm having the same issue...It really is an effort. I had a few teaspoons of Protein Jello this morning...felt like I was going to burst.

how do you make Protein Jello?

I add unflavored Protein Powder to the cold Water portion of the recipe on the box. I put it in a shaker so it mixes well, then add the hot water and Gelatin. Put the mixture in pre chilled containers and refrigerate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
