The cut I am told is just under 5 inches and eliminates the air they have to pump you with. Also' date=' the in hospital time is only two days but still the usually two weeks at home. Congrats in your surgery.........we're you scared?[/quote']

I wasn't scared or nervous. I guess the whole thing was so surreal for me. When I woke up it was just a victory that no one could tell me I couldn't have the surgery anymore. Lol

Thanks. People have been telling me this happens. I've never had surgery before so I'm seriously new at this. So far I'm not so nervous as in excited to start a new me. I am so ready....I bought my food for the liquid food portion when I get home on Thursday. I will make sure to let everyone know how things are going. I've decided to bring my laptop so that I can have something to do on my down time even if it's watching a movie and taking a nap.

This was my first surgery too. So, I had no idea what to expect. All I can say is that it was extremely less painful than I could have imagined. I was so in and out of sleep I barely looked at my phone but a couple of updates on here. I suggest pack light and Def bring crystal light packets! It'll make your liquids much easier to take once they start allowing you liquids.

Ya I'll probably be here and there with the posts but I have no idea how I'll be. I'm there for 3 days and my friend who had it back in November said she kind of got bored in the evening on the second day. She said it was because of the tv...she wasn't used to not having a DVR LOL.

Thank you. I was able to get some good sleep last night & not as nervous as I thought I would be. Of course I haven't arrived at the hospital yet. I lost 35 pds as of this morning on the pre-op liquid diet and it wasn't that bad. Everyone will do great on theirs :)

I will post an update when I can.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
