I am from england and belong to the WLSOINFO group there, the follwing is a posting that i submitted..........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I THOUGHT I WOULD DRAW EVERY ONES ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING, I WAS ASKED TO CONTACT DOLAN PARK TO SPEAK TO THE NURSE, WHICH I HAVE JUST DONE, I WAS THEN TOLD BY THE NURSE THAT MR SUPER HAD SEEN MY POSTING ABOUT ME EATING chips AND THERE FOR HE HAS NOT HAPPY, THAT I HAD NOT STUCK TO THE BAND PROTOCOL AND IF I HAVE ANY BAND SLIPPAGE, HE WILL NOT TREAT ME.I SUBSQUENTLY WAS CALLED BY THE OBESITY COORDINATOR(A NON MEDICAL PERSON) WHO STATES SHE CAN DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT MY TREATMENT CONTUINES AND I WAS TREADING ON VERY

DANDERGOUS GROUND. I WAS UNAWARE THAT THIS SITE WAS AN OFFICAL NHS WEB SITE AND WAS BEING USED AS AN OUT PATIENT BY SURGEONS. I THOUGHT THIS SITE WAS WHERE PEOPLE CAN AIR THEIR FEARS AND THEIR ANXIETIES ABOUT THEIR PROCEDURES AND FEEL PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WHAT EVER THEY POST, CAN BE AND IS USED AGAINST THEM BY THEIR SURGEONS. I HAVE ASKED THE COORDINATOR TO WRITE TO ME AND TELL ME THAT WHAT WAS POSTED, ON WHAT IS I THOUGHT AN UNOFFICAL WEB SITE IS SUBSQUENTLY USED BY THE SURGEON,TO DECIDE ON WHETHER HE TREATS ONE OR NOT. I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN EVERY ONE ELSES THOUGHTS ON THE ABOVE AND WHEN THEY HAVE CHEATED, DID THEY KNOW THAT THIS SITE CAN BE USED BY YOUR SURGEON ON ANY SUBSQUENT TREATMENT.,

That's a little creepy! Does he really know who you are (your name, address, phone)? I don't know anything about this type of problem, but it seems like your right to privacy has been sorely abused! Doesn't that website have to have a disclaimer stating what it is being used for. It seems like any patient has the right to know who has access to your postings and what your postings can be used for. And this is over you eating a few chips? Did you have complications from the chips? Had you contacted him for help regarding the chips eating? Wow, there has to be someone or someplace that can give you some straight answers! Best of luck to you!:)

Saffy, that is indeed unfortunate. The truth is, both of these boards can be read by anyone - you do not need to be a member to read posts, only to post. There is no privacy on the internet - you have to basically assume that anyone can read what you write. Even moderated sites that are for members only cannot guarantee that their members are who they say they are.

I think your doc's office is way out of line - particularly if they think that you are not perfectly normal. The lapband is about reduced portions and hunger, not deprivation. I hope your doc is either able to get past this, or that you can change to a more realistic doc.

These groups are about SUPPORT, not policing!

**hugs**

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
