Are you tired and withdrawn after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I feel so tired and withdrawn. Are you? I had the gastric sleeve on 3-13-13. Since surgery I have lost 30 pounds. Is there anyone else that has had the sleeve?

I had RNY 2-7-13. I was tired a lot the first four weeks, but it's rebounding now. I feel good, mostly.

Right after surgery I would get extremely tired. I was about 3 months out when I could get all my Protein in. Hold down more foods and get my Water in.... And started to feel "normal" again :-D now almost 11 months out I have more energy then ever :-)

You lost 30 lbs or ready. Congratz. I'm undecided between the sleeve and the by pass. If you don't mind me asking what made you go with the sleeve. I haven't met or spoke with anyone who got the sleeve.

Also as far as tired and withdrawn I personally think it depends on you and how you go into these just think you given a tool to get a new release on life use it but don't abuse it just think good thoughts keep yourself in an open peaceful frame of mind don't dread the Protein Shakes there a part of your life forever to help keep you healthy there's so many you can find one you like and just take it one day at a time don't let anyone get you down or make you think you've taken the easy way out if they haven't been through this they really don't know how much work it is its only hard if you make it that way I know I had problems after surgery with my heart and its still not wright but my surgery is fine and I can't exercise yet as I should be doing because of it but still doing all that I can. Everytime I would walk in the hospital codes would set off cause my heart monitor they would tell nurses to get me back in bed I told them I would when I finished my walk as my drs (2) had told me to do cause my heart rate went so high case I went into A-fib day after surgery so just keep happy positive thoughts and remember that the outcome is going to be a new Sexy you and we can't wait to unveil our selfs

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
