Kurstin 72 Posted March 26, 2013 I'm curious to see how long everyone took off of work for the surgery. Did anyone take the full 6 weeks?
nienie 113 Posted March 26, 2013 I took 6 weeks. I also am an RN in a hospital and work 12 hour shifts. So happy I took the time off because by the time I got back to work I had everything down and was feeling great. I suggest taking as much time as you can. at least two weeks if you have a desk job but if you can take longer go for it. It is alot to learn initially and you don't always feel so great after discharge.

Kurstin 72 Posted March 26, 2013 I have short term disability and I am able to take the full 6 weeks and I wanted to just because I wanted to make sure I was able to focus. I just do medical billing and people aren't always the most friendly when dealing with their medical bills. I've just heard you get extremely emotional after the surgery too, which is not normal for me. Haha I just want to make sure I don't have a breakdown on the phone with a patient hahaha. Seems silly saying that now. 1 nienie reacted to this

Pam Peltz 56 Posted March 26, 2013 I am taking the full 6 weeks. I feel I need it to get new patterns established and explore food options. I am very glad I'm doing it. Return to work is April 8.
Chefchrisp 12 Posted March 26, 2013 I'm taking 4 weeks off. Realistically I could probably go back now (6 days post) but I'm going to enjoy all 4 weeks!

Kurstin 72 Posted March 26, 2013 I took 2 weeks. If you have short term disability then I say take as long as you need. I was thinking the same thing. Might as well get a mini vaca to "explore". I've just seen a lot of people saying they didn't take very much time and I didn't want to be a weenie haha

I've just seen a lot of people saying they didn't take very much time and I didn't want to be a weenie haha I only had two weeks of vacation. So after that I wasnt getting paid anymore. But if I had short term I would have taken it.
tkee99516 2 Posted March 27, 2013 Would have like to taken a "mini" vacation, but only took 6 days off. I'm a certified coder & a medical biller, so having a desk job made returning to work pretty easy.
Nel 189 Posted March 27, 2013 I'm hoping to only take off 3 weeks. It's what annual leave I have built up.
ECUJenn 116 Posted March 27, 2013 I took 3 weeks of STD. I could have taken up to 6 but I work in a small office so the burden was on everyone else while I was out. I felt up to going back, so I did.
