My surgery was 1/14 and I am down to a size 18 from a 24. It feels great, but I am mostly out of clothes in my closet to wear so I went hunting for some deals on jeans. I have bought some things from the local thrift stores but one of the stores near me was having a 40% off one pair and get the second pair totally free. It brought the cost down to about $13 for a pair of jeans, which is only a few more bucks per pair than my local thrift stores. I went a little crazy and bought pants all the way down to a size 9/10. I have never been smaller than a 14. I was a 14 in high school. Looking at those tiny pants and trying to imagine wearing them is kind of impossible.

For all of you that have gotten to goal - what size did you end up in? Did any of you start in a 24 and end up in a 9/10 or smaller? Is it possible for our bodies to change that much after RNY?

I started in a 28 pants 3 to 4 x top. In a size 8 now and med tops. I was a size 12 in high school. Never thought I would get this size. Still can't wrap my head around it. I'm trying to level out now but seems like I'm still losing inches so who knows where I will end up I was a year out feb 21

OMG, I am so excited for you. Wow! I have never been a single digit my entire life. Currently, I am a 24 (tight) so the thought of being an 18 is exciting. I can't imagine putting on a 9/10. I am so proud of you.

Exercise exercise exercise!! I have a 2.5 year old little boy and I work 4 days per week so time is tight. I get up at 445 each workday and I'm at the gym by 610. I live by the motto "Nothing taste as good as healthy feels" and buying clothes at the Gap lol!

Mrsallenrn. I'm two months out and have lost 43 lbs from dos 1/29 but lost 16 prior to surgery. I am having trouble seeing myself lighter. I just started to work out a lot lately. You are an inspiration.

I did the same thing with an 11/12. Its hard to imagine fitting in them. Those pants barely fit around a thigh. lol. I'm at 24 now.

My biggest worry is being motivated enough to work out. Between sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, depression and fibromyalgia I am exhausted and feel beat down everyday. On top of that my parents used exercise as a punishment when I was young. I will have spurts where I will work out for two weeks and then have a bad day and stop. I'm hoping the weightloss will help boost me to want to work out. How soon after surgery did you start exercising?

You can do it! Your stats are awesome! Keep up the walking and it won't be long until your running.

I was doing 45 mins a day 4 days a week for 6 weeks before surgery. I started walking the day after surgery but it was prob 3 weeks before I started real workouts. I love working out now. I've recently added strength training and I love the results. It just like work, we don't always love it but it has to be done!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
