I am on week one of the liquid diet. My doctor only requires 1 week but I thought if 1 week was good 2 weeks would be great. I can only have 800 calories so that's about 3 shakes a day. I am on day 4 I am so hungry. I want to eat everything in sight. I am struggling bad tonite. I saw that someone wrote they only had to have 4 incisions instead of 5 I should use that as my motivation. This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I know that the end result will be my life back. However right now all I can see is all the foods that I can't eat. My surgery date is April 8.

This is day six of my two week liquid diet and everyday I stare at that stupid shake cup with disgust and love all at the same time. I know that I will hate drinking it but I know I will love the results in the end. So far' date=' 10lbs down. This has been one of the hardest things I have done. I never realized how much I was addicted to chewing. I actually got all excited yesterday, when I realized that next Tuesday I didn't have to drink another shake. Crazy how I got happy about that.

Tons of SF Jello, popsicles, broth (organic), Water. I too have managed to get four shakes a day down. Five is overload for me. You can do! Trust me, I thought I was going to fail after day three. I wish you the best. My surger is April 4th. fingers crossed[/quote']

My surgery is April 4th too!!!

@ SemperFiWife...isn't that crazy? We definately have to follow each other to watch the progression. Good luck to you. By the way, I had to bravely walk past the Bagels and pastries this morning at work. That was monumental. Baby steps...baby steps.

I'm absolutely terrified of Monday. My surgery got moved up. I'm his second patient and I have to be there at 7:30 am. It's over 100 miles away...so I'm thinking of staying the night before in a hotel and then going. I really want to cuddle my cats that night, though...so I don't know. Monday. I'm getting a gastric bypass monday. She called me this afternoon to touch base and I almost canceled. It doesn't help when you read horror stories on the boards!

Are most of you using HMR shakes? I was on that diet last fall. I actually like the shakes, but with fruit, sugar free fat free pudding, or sugar free syrups. I thought they were tasty...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
