Tablets (pills) 4 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Are any of you "allowed" to take tablets? I want to start taking glucosamine and it is a fairly large tablet. Will it dissolve in my pouch? I crushed the first one and it tastes nasty. I cannot afford the liquid. I saw my doc today and he is fine with me taking it but I forgot to discuss form. Thanks.

I take any tablets I want - one of my major annoyances after surgery was the not so pleasant liquids:( I was happy to start taking tablets - about 3 weeks after surgery - first I had to take them one at a time, now (7 months post-op) can swallow the whole handfull (about 8, including tylenol and multivitamin) at one time - my method prior to surgery. I was told as long as pills go down and stay down you can swallow them. As I mentioned in a previous post - the Dr's and researchers are really not sure how our body is absorbing the medicines - this is why frequent blood tests (every 3 months) are necessary to make sure everything in your body is working as it should.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
