Hi, my name is Dana and I'm 36 yrs old and in the process of jumping through all the insurance and surgeon's hoops to get my surgery date. I have over 200 lbs to lose and have decided on the bypass. I've already had all my pre op blood work, chest xray, EKG, Upper GI. Just went to the Dr. that supervises my CPAP and got his approval today. I go to the cardiologist next week the following week to the dietician. My insurance requires 3 months supervision, so I'm really hoping for a surgery date in June. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!!!

Best of luck on your journey. It goes fast believe it or not. I had a six month supervised diet and it still went fast when all was said and done. My process started in May and I had surgery the end of January. Lots of great support and information. Bottom line is follow the program your surgeon has put together. As you read on here you will notice all the discrepancies-and when it comes down to it you want to be successful so follow your rules and you will do great.... :)

I'm looking at a June surgery date too! We can support each other through the process and the hoops.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
