I had my surgery November 15th 2012, I've doing very with my weight loss, everything was smooth sailing. Until I had some sort of attack at work one night. I took a drink right in the middle of my chest came this painfull heartburn which spread out horizontally. Seconds later pain dropped into my stomach, cramps so bad I couldn't stand up straight. It was intense but slowly subsided. Within an hour I was home and all the pain came back even more intense. I believe its my gallbladder, which I was warned could possible have to be removed after my bypass. Has anyone endured anything like this?

WOW Flora! That's sounds awful. My surgery was 11/19 and I have not had anything like what you described. It could be gallbladder or an ulcer. Either way I would call your Dr. immediately. Hope it works out!

I've since been to my surgeon & now I have to have my gallbladder taken out. I knew this was possible, it very common so I found out.

Ill keep everyone posted since this is like I said a common sideaffeck after gastric bypass

I had my gb 8/10-12 and have had several attacs like yours, have been crawling at ER floor at night.

Now I have pain under my ribs and in my back and sometimes between my shoulders.

I go to the hospital 5/4 and have my gallbladder removed.

Really looking forward to having it removed, the gallbladder got inflamated and have been taking antibiotics for 10 days now.

Hope you recover and have the removal soon.

Big hug!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
