Need too highlight my hair

Recommended Posts

because they are mean and don’t want you to look or feel your best.

no, because your hair is like your nails and what you do on the inside now takes a little while to grow out - in a few weeks your hair will be vulnerable and you increase that vulnerability by doing coloring etc which can be harsh...

just relax and enjoy the process - you have a lifetime (probably LONGER now too) to get pretty.

xoxo

I have been getting my hair colored and highlighted with no problems. A good friend is my hairdresser and she is aware I had surgery. The have gentle products they can use on hair. I figure if my hair gets yucky looking I will cut it short and start the growing process over.. After all it is just hair. I have gray so I will continue to color my hair.

I had mine colored and highlighted at 3 1/2 weeks with no problems, was never told to wait. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'm a hairstylist, and I've done plenty of clients that have had surgery with no issues, as well as my own. We might lose some a few months after surgery but that's due to what's going on inside your body. Your hair is dead when it leaves the scalp, so it won't be affected by what's going on due to surgery. Losing hair from surgery and losing hair due to breakage are 2 completely different things. Go ahead and get the highlights.

I am not a hairstylist or pretend to be one - I am however a girl who did her hair allot - with and without gentle stuff - and KNOW that I do as little right now as possible to make sure the hair I do have is in the healthiest shape possible - i’ve had Hair loss from highlights and without highlights -

everyone is different and comes with different knowlege - shit - some people are eating big macs and I can’t for the life of me find that on any list - so do what you think is best for you.

IMHO.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
