So disappointed, today marks one month since I had the surgery. I still can't eat anything without it getting stuck or vommiting besides Protein Shakes and I only lost 23 pounds. I think this is the slowest in history. I'm just feeling good enough to excerise so I will start today. This really makes me sad.

Truly, that's not a slow loss, your loss is excellentZ. I was told to expect 2-4 lbs a week and you are well above that at just shy of 6 pounds a week. I don't understand why you're having so much difficulty eating, that concerns me and absolutely needs to be discussed with your surgeon!!!! Good luck and stop being so hard on yourself!!!

I was one month out last Wednesday . I had lost 18. I feel that is really slow but the way I look at it is I would have never lost 18 pounds in a month without this surgery.

23 is great! I lost about 20-22 pounds then about 2-3 per week after that. About 10 per month. Also, I agree. You should be having an easier time with food by now. Give your Dr. a call. :-)

Thank you for the encouragement. You are so uplifting!! I don't know why eatting is so hard. Is that unusual to still be having difficulties after a month. I can tolerate eggs mixed with a spoon of watery grits , Soup and refried Beans with no problem. Everything else gets stuck. If this is not normal I will def call my Dr.

Most us are very supportive and can relate but there are some that still judge and post ugly comments! Wish we could delete those people

I had a Protein bar for Breakfast with no issues, Sunday I had corned beef an cabbage ()sliced thin, tiny bites, and chewed well) but no problems. Yeah I would expect things to be easier for you at this point. Keep your chin up! You've lost a 2 year old! :P

I had a very difficult time eating for the 1st six week, zofran (anti-nausea) was my best friend. I would wake up nauseated before I ate anything too. Concentrate on what you can eat and keep down and eat those items - don't go for too much variety. If you are worried, call your Dr and ask, but with the massive rearrangment of our insides it is normal to have a difficult time, some are able to bounce back quickly, some take a little more time. When I had the full - kind of sick feeling a hot bath (even in the middle of the summer when it was 100 degrees) was very soothing. Best of luck.

A heating pad works wonders too....at least for me it did. Silly thing was my comfort for a month, I've put it back in a drawer and find I want to pull it out and snuggle cuz it's soothing :D

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
