Your hormones are in an uproar. You'll be like that for 4 weeks. Or at least I was. Sorry! you can do it!

I'm still hormonal and I am 7 weeks out today. Right now I am crying over birthday cake I cannot have. I think a lot of this is realization I REALLY can't have these things anymore without getting sick. And I am finally making good decisions for my health.

That sounds terrible but good at the same time. Im sorry about the cake thing. This slowly crept up on me. The day after surgery i was crying in the hospital for nothing and also when i got home. Yesterday my mother made me awesome cuban food and i couldnt even have one bite... Im not a sweets fan so i should be good on that side. Hope you get better soon.

Hey guys. It's best to just get some of that emotion out of your system. I went though this for 2 months and it got pretty bad. It's a bad mixture of hormones, food separation, and pain. I promise it will get better, but right now you have to go thought these growing pains.

I have the added joy of a relationship ending,my perfect 8 year old son starting to get in trouble at school for the first time ever, and, most importantly, my mom is on a kidney transplant list (has been for almost 2 years), a week and a half ago she got called to the hospital for work-up, there was a donor on life-support and she was #1 to receive the kidney.....about 8 hours later the called and she wasn't a close enough match to the donor so she was being sent home.....this one really hit me hard :/. I know everything happens for a purpose....mom is doing great, so great that she's not on dialysis yet, the start when her levels hit 10 and she's stayed steady at 11-12 for 2 years solid....it's amazing considering how quickly she was decreasing beforehand. I think we have the kid issue worked out but that was totally draining. And the relationship is what it is, he is an amazing man and I'm blessed to have he and his son in our lives, they are great friends, I just have to one to terms with the fact that that is all we will ever be....

Add the surgery stress, fatigue, overall not feeling well, crazy hormones and what is apparently becoming a weekly crisis in my life, I am fried!!!!

And tank you, we're all pretty much rock stars when you look at how we do this and all we do!

HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 226.6

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
