Just wondering if anyone has had surgery in Tijuana, and if so who did you use? How did it go? Trying to find a surgeon. Insurance won't cover it, so I'll have to pay out of pocket, so...

I'm local and my insurance covered part of it, so I don't want to give you any wrong info, go to his website, I just had surgery with him a week ago, and I feel great, no pain, not hungry, no headaches, no nausea, I completely recommend him... his website is: http://gastricsleeve...urgeon.comand the hospital one is: http://mexicalibaria...bariatric.com

I was able to locate them online. Seems like a great place, but out of my price range. :-( Our insurance will only cover the band and only after you jump through a whole mess of hoops. The quote I got from Mexicali is $11,000 limited time cash price. Thank you anyway Marisela! I hope you continue to do well! And congratulations on your recent surgery!

Thanks... I hope you find a way to get yours done too! I am truly happy with my doctor, people from all over the world travel to have surgery with him and I have him just 5 mins away from home!!! Best luck to you. :)

I went with Dr. Fernando Garcia Govea. Tijuanabariatrics.com for my revision.

He was a genius with a complicated procedure.

Hospital florence Oasis was super nice, clean, quiet. The staff was PHENOMENAL.

I had better care than I had in the USA with my first surgery.

My revision was $7500. It was on the high end, but after researching I picked him. He has had no fatalities, a much lower than average complications, he only does a maximum of 5 surgeries a day (some doctors do 15!), and eh anesthesiologist is a cardiologist as well.

If you're interested I'll give you my coordinator's email. She took very good care of me.

I am curious about having the surgery out of the country. How does all the pre op appointments and everything work? I can't afford to stay long term in Mexico even though I'd love to!!!

I went to Dr verboonen in Tijuana I had the Mini Gastric Bypass and my total cost was $6500.00. I know if you want the sleeve its only $4200.

Dr Verboonen has his own clinic in Tijuana and Cancun. I was in Mexico a total of 4 days 2 nights at the clinic one night at a beautiful hotel,Then flew home. The price included everything( transfers, labs, clinic stay, hotel)except flights.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
