My surgeon indicates that all pills must be crushed, chewable or liquid for the rest of my life since they will not be absorbed properly with the lack of stomach and duodenum.

My surgeon says I will be taking pain meds in the hospital in pill form. But, you can get D3 in a tablet form which sound like it makes more sense with your surgeons guidelines.

I know that some of your Vitamins need to be in a chewable or liquids form because we don't have the stomach acid to help breakdown for absorption. I take many other pills whole ie, beta blocker, birth control, tylenol. I know that my thiamine is a capsule and okay to swallow. It is also from Bariatric Advantage so my doctor felt good about that. I would always ask your doctor what he wants and what he suggests.

Thanks everyone! I'll let you know what the surgeon says!

I'm also on Vitamin D and he said wait 2 weeks and take it as normal after that

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
