What am I doing wrong?(weight problems)

Recommended Posts

I track my calories on mfp. I eat around 1700-2,000 and exercise anywhere between 300-400 calories a day. I was down to 276 from 278 which is a big feat for me since for some reason I am not losing any weight. We ended up going out to eat and I probably had about 500 calories more than I should for that day, but figure no biggie I was going to burn it off from all the extra walking and such we were doing. Boy was I wrong. I gained 3 pounds in 1 day!!. I'm now up to almost 280. I'm about to freak because I have to weigh in soon.

I thought maybe I just had too much salt or something and waited to try and weigh myself again the next day-nope still says almost 280.

If you gain more than a half a pound in a day it is almost always Water weight. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! And don't beat yourself up over small missteps. This is a long journey. Be mindful, but not hyperfocused to the point that you're not living your life! Head up girl!

Hello Amanda. Your calorie intake seems a little high for a diet. The calorie intake for someone not on a diet is around 2,000. if you want to loose more weight, change your calorie intake to 1500 and try to burn 300 to 500 calories. This will allow you to lose 2 pounds a week. Have you spoken to a nutritionist? Also look at your carb, sugar, and fat content. I believe you are Pre-opp, so I would try to start getting in the habit of eating Protein.

Hope this was helpful... :)

I am in the same boat!

I am using MFP and I got a body media band to track my calories burned, I am losing but not like I should be. They say if you have 1,000 cal difference between what you eat and burn you should lose at least two pounds a week....

I'm hoping it's just Water weight, I'm doing the no no and bought a water pill to see if that helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
