Discouraged & Disappointed...

Recommended Posts

My surgery was on 1/25/13.

Up until about the last 2 Weeks I was losing weight consisyently & quickly. I wasn't even trying and the pounds were coming off. I guess the "honeymoon" period is over. About 2 Weeks ago and around the time I began soft foods, I noticed my weight loss slowed down significantly. I think I've only lost 2 or 3 pounds in the past 2 Weeks. What's worse, I just weighed myself and I gained about a pound and a half! This is frustrating. I eat small portions, try best to follow guidelines but no progress. Is this it? Is it going to be very difficult now to lose the weight? I still haven't met my goal. I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I don't drink plain Water, I drink Crystal Light, I have had lowfat cream cheese on wheat thins for snack, and I haven't been exercising due to pain or fatigue. Are these my errors? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

From what I hear it's natural to hit a stall at that point. I think ice hit one too. Im sure switching to soft foods has something to do with it. You're taking in more calories. The weight loss will continue, just keep up the good work and power through :)

Exercise would definitely help. What about Water aerobics? Great workout and much less pain and stress on the body.

Yes, sounds good. I didn't think of it. I will look for where they offer them in my area. Thanks for the support.

I'm sure you're doing great, Mari. It's probably just a stall. Keep up the small portions :)

Yes, you are going to hit a lot of stalls. If you use a calorie program, you can see how many calories you are eating a day and how much you are burning to determine why you are not loosing. I have had a stall for a month and had to go back to liquids. It seems every 3 months, I hit a milestone and then another stall.

My dietician said no starchy carbs (bread, chips, crackers, potatoes) until I reach my goal weight since the can slow weight loss. I'm sure having crackers as a snack isn't going to bring things to a complete halt and it's just a little plateau while you adjust to solids. But if it continues it might be something you want to consider.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
