STALL/PLATEAU...... PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

On April 1st I will be 6 months post-op. So far, I have lost a total of 66 pounds which I am very grateful for. However for the last few weeks the scale has only move up and down within 1 pound. Am I at a plateau? Am I doing something wrong? Am I done losing? :( I would LOVE to lose another 50 pounds. I walk A LOT, and go to the gym about twice a week. Are there any foods I should be avoiding/ stop eating? I eat:

  • meats - chicken, turkey and beef (sometimes)
  • Beans - black Beans, chili beans, pinto beans, split peas Soup
  • Most Seafood - shrimp, crab legs, fish, and salmon
  • Vegetables expect, starchy {potatoes}. (Fresh or Frozen)
  • Dairy (cheese, Greek yogurt, almond milk
  • Nuts (Sliced Almonds and All natural Peanut Butter no sugar added. (I used to almonds in my greek yogurt(1/2 serving) and peanut butter on fresh fruit)
  • Seasoning and ingredients that have sugars listed 5th and below

I try to get in about 800-900 calories a day. Is that to low, to high? What am i doing wrong? Any suggestions on how I can getting the scale moving again? This is VERY depressing :( .

All comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!! This is a lifestyle change and learning process. I am still learning......

I, too, have had a few stalls in months 5 & 6. I read on other post that most increase Protein, increase exercise intensity and length and it should break. I think the idea is to change up your routine because your body has gotten used to it. Good luck and congrats on the 66 lbs!

It's truly an amazing journey isnt it?

I, too, have had several stalls. I've found that the scales will move again if I change things up a little by eating different foods and eat more Protein.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
