Hey! I had this feeling for the first 3 to 4 months. I could not imagine life being 'normal' again. There is a lot of physical and mental adjustment that is needed.

My first regret is not choosing the RNY the first time around.

My second regret is the first 2.5 weeks after my conversion i thought I had made a HUGH mistake because of the horrific pain.

Everyday I awake and I am thankful that I have a wonderful bariatric clinic and Surgeon to see me through the rest of my weight loss journey. 5 weeks out I think it was the right decision for the second part of my life, i will be healthier and I am sure once all the aches and pains go I will be back to my happy go lucky self:-)

HW 250/1st Lapband 198/2nd Lapband 232/Pre conversion 2/6/13 to bypass 232. Currently 206 Bariatric GW 134, Realistic GW 150

I'm a week after surgery and still in so much pain I think about regrets all day. Add the not being able to eat and diarrhea every day and it sure does not help. I'm trying so hard to think ahead and mentally get back to the excitement of a new life.

What you are going through is normal. It's very scary when your body has changed and your brain is trying to keep up with it, not to mention dealing with head hunger, pain, bowel issues and everything else. The pain does go away, you will be able to eat and relieve it or not-may even deal with being constipated (I'm sure that sounds heavenly to you now huh). Just stay around people that are supportive An have faith in yourself and your body. It will catch up and figure out what to do-its just in shock right now. If it does get worse though you should call your doctor. They're there to help and give advice, etc. Take care and best wishes for a quick and full recovery!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
