ukangel 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Hi I live in the North West of England andI am married with a son of 6 years old. I have watched this site and looked at all the interesting information they contain and now I feel I can post something about me as I had my lap band fitted on the 7th February 2007 at Droitwich Spa Hospital in Birmingham in the UK. I have struggled with my weight for the past 16 years and feel at 37 it was time to start living and become the person I alsways longed to be. My surgery went really well but unfortunatly I had a hernia that they only discovered in surgery and i had to have that repaired at the same time. I am still very tender but feeling very positive. I have stuck to the only liquids and feel so hungry but realise that it will get better. I am only 6 days post op. Would love to hear from anyone who is begining their journey or if anyone has any useful tips !
megret 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Hello and Welcome!! I was banded on the 6th of February in Mexico and doing great! It will be fun to have a gal from England to chat with. I attended a Riding School in Somerset back in 1971 and worked in Gloucestershire too! I love England!! Sorry to hear you had to have a hernia replaced as well, but I bet you'll be surprised at how fast you heal. I am 54 and like you, decided it was high time to begin living my life as a slim woman. I am sooooo excited about my band. I had researched the band for over a year so I felt very comfortable with going to Mexico for my band. Not to mention the cost difference was significant. Between my weeklong pre surgery diet until now I have lost just over 22 lbs. So needless to say I feel great! Don't get me wrong, I have a long way to go, but at least now I have the tool to help get me there!! Hopefully we can keep in touch! Meg
