I have had my lapband for 7 months 3 fills last fill being 3 months ago and have recently found out I am pregnant, Last night I decided to have a couple of chips ( twisties ) I don't think my body agreed with these and I headed straight to the toilet I dry heaved a little but nothing came out.. It wasn't stuck I know what that feels like it was different this time.. Anyway soon after my throat started to burn and I couldn't stop burping.. I didn't eat near enough to have over indulged I got about 5 in and it was all over..

Today I have not been able to eat I have been able to get liquid down but even that feels like it want's to come up and I am still burping after every little drink and it kinda feels like I have an air pocket underneath my ribcage the butterfly area that keeps popping??? It's really hard to explain?

I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 12th of march I called them today to see if there was anyway I could get an earlier appointment and they said I can't that they are fully booked and thats the earliest I can see him

Any idea's of what could be happening? Could it just be a reflux thing? Could I have made my band slip :cry ? This is my first time pregnant and Im scared that I am depriving the baby or that this could affect it somehow :cry

Sorry that this thread is so long I'm just really scared

Phatty, congratulations on the pregnancy! I don't think your band has slipped, but things may very well be rearranging inside due to the fluctuating Fluid levels associated with pregnancy. Get an unfill as soon as you can and everything should be just fine!

Thanks Alexandra.. I'm very very early into my pregnancy 4 weeks.. I just got really overwhelmed and scared at the possibility of having a slipped band..

Thanks again :)

We had our "band baby" 4 months ago....I agree you need some Fluid out ASAP, and as the pregnancy progresses you will need more out. But, the great news is afterwards with refills the weight comes right back off, good luck!

Congratulations. I have had my band for 9 months with no problems, until... I fell pregnant, I am now 9 weeks pregnant and have a constant stomach pain around my navel, can't eat any solids - it doesn't get restricted but I have pain in the stomach - wondering if it is pregnancy or band erosion - anyone got any idea's? Tidge

it sounds like pregnanacy and not your band.

Band erosions typically present with port infections, redness and pain, not what you are describing.

Make sure you stay hydrated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
