Loose Skin at 18?

Recommended Posts

I currently am in the process of saving up my pennies to get the lap band in TJ, MX by Dr. Ortiz! I am hoping to be able to afford the surgery by the summer...or get hired by microsoft whichever comes first. However one of my main question I am having trouble fidnign an answer to is weather or not it is normal for people my age (18) to have loose skin after surgery? I haven't talked to anybody my age who has had the band so I relaly have no one to ask....but maybe you all can help. I am 5'7 and 275 BMI of 43. I guess most people would say you can get a TT and what not...but doesn't that have terrible scars that go along with it...I have been over weight my whole life and I'm still young I wana show off my new body! But I don't want to have TT scars either. Any advice would be very much appreicated!!!

Being younger you will have a better chance of your skin not sagging. However genetics play a part in it too. You are really not going to know until you get there. I am 26 and it is something I worry about too. I don't know if I could afford a TT or even want to go through surgery again for cosmetic purposes. I have never been thin and never worn a two piece bathing suit and I would love to have that experience. I do believe the scar would be low enough that you would still be able to wear a bikini without people seeing the scar.

Thanks for your response! I appreciate your input. I just guess it's a cross your fingers kind of thing. I wasn't aware that Tummy Tuck scars were low...I guess I'm just not familiar with taht type of surgery. I know what you mean by wanting to wear a two piece...I have never ever done that!! Beign overweight my whole life, that has always been a dream of mine!

Maybe someday...

Another thing you might want to think about is having kids and such after a TT. I already have two kids and I know if I were to get a TT that I would not be stretching that area out again by having children because I already had them. I am not sure how having chidren affects a TT, if the skin goes back or what but it is something else to look into and think about.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
