Guest Joe Tornielli Posted March 7, 2013 Just joined the forum and am 1 week post op Question is.....Is it common to drink 8+ ounces within 15-20 minutes? Those 1oz cups keep me dehydrated. My pouch doesn't hurt and everything seems good. Sorry if this was covered before somewhere in the forum.
kristy3k 1,133 Posted March 7, 2013 I couldnt drink that much 1 week out. Remember the nerve endings of your pouch are still healing so follow whatever your doctor recomends as far as drinking. I was just told to sip sip sip. So that's what I did. I was so out of it those first few weeks that I didnt measure anything but never was dehydrated so honestly dont know how many ounces I was drinking at the time. Welcome to the boards. Congrats on your surgery.
one day at a time 30 Posted March 7, 2013 Just joined the forum and am 1 week post op <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Question is.....Is it common to drink 8+ ounces within 15-20 minutes? Right out of surgery I was given two glasses of ice chips and I ate them both. They then gave me broth. I am currently 12days post op and drinking fluids like crazy. My doc said its a good thing. Every one is different. Good luck!
khailey1230 45 Posted March 7, 2013 I'm 1 month post op and to this day I still can't drink more than 4 oz in an hour and I have to drink less than an ounce at at time or ill get stomach ache, so go slowly on the drinking cause you don't want your pouch to expand. Good luck and welcome to the experience that will change your life and make you a better and healthier you.
JessicaJ86 2 Posted March 7, 2013 I am a little over a wk post op... I too am handling stuff well without pain my dietitian said as long as u sip n not gulp drink till ur hearts content congrats
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted March 7, 2013 I too was under the impression as long as you aren't taking huge gulps you'll be fine. Physiologically I can't see how liquids would stretch a pouch. They're going to follow the path of least resistance and that would be up or down, not stretching.....but then I'm not a doctor 2 Tim Sebora and one day at a time reacted to this
khailey1230 45 Posted March 7, 2013 I'm not a doctor either but I'm just saying what my doctor had told me, I guess every doctor is different so just ask your doctor to see if its ok.
