Lioness81970 0 Posted August 20, 2004 Yesterday was my 34th birthday and I haven't weighed myself in about 1 month. I just got so discouraged in the numbers that I have stopped looking at them all together. I figure the true test of what I have lost is in how my clothes fit. Yesterday I was feeling pretty down. Money has been really tight, as we are trying to help my mother in law with her finances....she lost her business not too long ago. So my husband and I have decided to move in with her to help her out. So yesterday on top of working I had to move all electronic things to the house as I was having my cable servs transfered to the new residence. So I had a crappy birthday. Well this morning I was getting readly to go to work and I went into my closet and couldn't find any jeans to wear. Fridays are casual days and I was NOT going to go to work on a casual day without jeans on. Well I saw that I had 1 pair of jeans in the closet and these have been my all time favorite jeans ever. They are worn in and oh so comfortable. I had tried them on about a month ago and I could get them up and zipped but if I wanted to breath I couldn't wear them. So I decided to try them on and whatdaya know? They fit!!! Even a little big actually. :( I was so excited I didn't know what to do!! So I looked at myself sideways and realized my stomach is shrinking as well. I am noticing all kinds of little things. I am just so happy to have my favorite jeans back!!!!! I couldn't have wished for a better birthday present than that!!!!!

nightingale2u 42 Posted August 20, 2004 Ahhh... Carmen that's wonderful!!!! Those non-scale victories are the best! A pair of pants fitting is better than an ole number on the scale anyday! Happy Belated Birthday! :banana Darcy

Rebeccalee 2 Posted August 20, 2004 I can't believe you didn't weigh yourself for a whole month! (Says the addict who won't join the weigh-once-a-week challenge. ) I guess that's one way to surprise yourself on your birthday. It's great that you can fit those favorite jeans. This journey sure has a lot of rewards that add up to feeling good! Happy Birthday!
Alexandra 55 Posted August 20, 2004 Happy Birthday indeed!! Who'd ever have thunk that there was a really good reason for keeping all those old clothes we never thought would fit again. My favorite thing to do now is go through the closet. Congratulations!!!
hagerteresa 3 Posted August 21, 2004 Hi Carmen, Happy birthday!!! Sorry about your having to move. I know life is tough at times. We had to move in and take care of my in-laws last year when they had major medical issues. It was tough business. Glad your jeans fit, that was a nice surprise. Sometimes we have to appreciate the small things in life. Best wishes and hope it all gets better, Teresa sending you b-day hugs!
