I have been on depo for two years. My lady doctor said that there shouldnt be any issues after surgery. There was some weight gain, but this was also when I wasnt conserned and was eating everything but the kitchen sink. But I love the depo. Its conveniant, not a daily thing and I hated the idea of inplant

Why can't we just take birth control pill? I was on ortho tricyclen lo before gastric bypass. Had to stop a month before surgery by surgeon said I could start it up again after my next period after surgery.

As always check with your surgeon. I tried to research and some docs are worried about malabsorption and the increased rish of blood clots.

One sight said depro may cause osteoarthritis.

The iud seems the most favorite.

Hysterectomy when I was 28!

I posted this somewhere else but gotta tell ya, my mirena destroyed my orgasms....loved the no period thing but my orgasm intensity went from delightful to meh, not worth the effort....they were super easy to have but just blah....gyn thought I was nuts but within days of having it removed I was back to the good old days!

i’ve always been able to check the strings - if your nervous you can always go see your OB -

My Dr was from the military and shared that of the hundreds he put in - only ONE was expelled. I feel pretty good about those #’s

I was never able to feel my strings either, also I've always had a tipped uterus and I did have them check 3 times. They claimed I was just fine and not to worry. Now that I've switched OB docs come to find out at least 8 different women in my area have had similar issues. It really sucks I hate medical care out here. It's so bad I'm considering moving my whole family, back to the city but my 4 kids love their school... :(

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
