hygienegirl41 0 Posted May 17, 2013 Bipolar, diagnosed a year ago. Had surgery three years ago and doing well, lost 120 lbs, but gained 15 lbs back in last two months. Have been manic and that tends to fuel eating for me. Has anyone else found this? Also have problem with compulsive night eating. Think meds need adjusting. Any ideas anyone? AllisonKara 46 Posted February 26, 2014 Depression ,bipolar,PTSD, ADHD anyone ??? living4myself_gb1-21-13: I don't think suffering from any of these ailemnts can act as a hindrance in undergoing the gastric bypass surgery until you have a good experienced doctor to back you. All of these can be dealt with ease if precautions are taken. Though I don't know for sure but I have heard that doctors take care of all these in advance. jtickle 295 Posted March 6, 2014 I was diagnosed in 2009 after a severe manic episode. I also have PTSD, OCD and anxiety. My psychiatrist wrote a letter to my surgeon stating that I can make my own decisions about surgery and it would likely improve my mental state. My bipolar is well under control. The surgeons office accepted that as my psych eval. Which made me very happy. I don't want to spend the money on their psychologist or take take that 400 question test.
