My dr doesn't have us really track carbs just calories and Protein. But I watch mine. Recently they've been too high for my taste. I'm just going through a rut. I'm sick of meat.< /p>

I'm 5months post op and i get in no more than 40 carbs a day.

Am more than 6 months out. My max carbs will be 50 grams a day. I try to keep it at 50% or lower of my Protein.intake.

Heather, am in the same boat. Am trying to limit carbs to natural ones in milk, nuts, yogurt and cheese.

Same here Lili. I won't give up veggies and some fruit. Plus, my Dr wants me to have these things along with the milk, nuts, yogurt and cheese. :-)

I just asked my nutritionist this question. I googled how many we should get when trying to lose weight and was told 20, I found that impossible. My nutritionist told me 90 a day...she said about 15 carbs per meal or snack..I know I don't get to 90 but I don't track them. Hope this helps :-)

Well my menu calendar per doctor orders include whole wheat bread/corn tortilla/soups/cereal...so carbs are definitely in those foods. .im 7 weeks post op n I have hit a stall since incorporating these foods...wonder if I should continue eating them?

For the most part I keep it very low. We don't have to specifically count carbs but I like to follow I more low carb diet as it keeps me satisfied/full. I on average take in 15-25 a day with my highest around 40-50. I try not to have too many days with high carb numbers...

I should also add that i get fruit and veggies in. I buy the Atkins frozen meals and they have zucchini, green Beans, cauliflower broccoli. I also buy the 4 packs of pears and mandarin oranges I just buy the ones in Water versus Syrup and no sugar added. I will be adding more fruits but don't like to eat too many as prior to surgery they would kick up my carb intake and when my carb intake gets to high I get cravings.. I know it will probably be different now but I am going to follow the Atkins way of life from here on out...

When I went in for my 6th month check up, the nurse said I may want to limit my carbs in order to help my weight loss. I was taking a look at my food diary on MFP and I definitely need to change up my diet to get to the numbers you all are listing! I looked at Monday's and my Protein Shake alone has 20! Ekk! I'm going to try being more mindful and see if it helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
