So went to the pulmonolgist - he sucks ass

If you most likely have sleep apnea because your overweight - why make me do 2 appointments with those dr’s before sending me in for the dreaded sleep test.

it defies logic -

the dr isn’t a bariatric dr

lectured me about sleep apnea (sure - that’s his expertise)

and he couldn’t possibly understand the journey that got me here - nor could he understand how having just ONE MORE COMORBIDITY doesn’t help me - doesn’t make me feel better - it protects him - the surgeon - and the anesthesiologist in the surgery -

I’m having a pity party.

THIS sleep apnea business is going to delay me - on something I was ready to do 9 months ago - now I have to wait - more time - and wait for someone to give me permission - I HATE BEING AT SOMONE ELSES MERCY

sorry - thanks for listening - don’t know if anyone else finds it ridiculous

schedule me for the sleep apnea test - no problem - but making me see someone for a pre-test - then see the dr so he can schedule me for the test - well that’s just a waste of everyones time and resources.

my dad had a bipass at 49 - i remember it well - he didn’t have a sleep study -

I had my knee reconstructed 20 yrs ago - i didn’t have a sleep study -

the millions of people that have emergency surgeries daily - they don’t have sleep studies -

let’s call a spade a spade- the sleep study is to protect the drs asses - not mine - they would use the same protocol regardless of my comorbities if I had a rush surgery -

just makes me angry -- all to cover someones ass

ok.

i’m not a pretty daisy today.

I think you hit the nail on the head! I've had multiple surgeries over my lifetime and never had to have a sleep study prior to any of them...the anesthesiologists were able to manage my need just fine!

I have to agree with you both. I am hoping that at least 6 months after my surgery I can give my cpap machine back to them. I really want off of it.

No cpap for my c section

No cpap for my tonsils

If anyone gets wheeled into an ER they don't have a cpap

This bozo asshats needed to lecture me how important his job is and went on to educate me on how among the list of pre surgery stuff his was the most important

Having done research all day - I now know it's about being awake when they pull the intubation tube (I bet as a precaution they do anyway because of my bmi)

He said between the lines that he needs to test me because he is responsible if he approves me and I end up having difficulty -

That being said - this has been the first Dr in the long list that was a jerk - I suppose the glass half full girl should be greatful

Thanks for hearing my vent

Amazing people here

Dr's who don't get bariatric patients suck

You are so right. Mine was not so friendly. He was in the hall talking about another patient to a nurse & how this women was getting a sleep test. That she kept calling for the results & they were getting annoyed. Well dr this patient wasn't to happy after that. I really do think the non wls surgeons have no idea. After my blood work I got a letter from my pcp & she recommended that I need to lose weight because my liver was fatty. Well no s$%t sherlock...what have I been doing getting ready for the surgery! Like I've been going to spa days instead of dr appointments. I get it & I'm right there with ya.

I am disappointed because until now I hadn't felt ashamed - he made it clear how important he was in my journey and made sure he told me how disappointed he was that my pcp didn't send me in years ago.

He is not important

I am

He holds the keys to my very near future but not my life

I have preached throughout this journey that everything happens for a reason - I just need to listen to my own advice

I didn't have to have a sleep study and have BMI of 60 I weighed 369 at first surgeon appointment I think it has to do with how you answer questions regarding sleep patterns and the size of your neck will in hospital one night someone came in and asked if I slept with Oxygen at night I said no he said my oxygen was dropping at night so they had me put it on They told me they were going to do a study the next night they just stuck the thing on your finger hooked up to a little machine that just check how many times your oxygen droops while sleeping so then they told me I needed to have a complete one done I asked my dr and he didn't seem to be worried about it and with the surgery it would get better anyways I spent 12 days in hospital but for other trouble with my heart after surgery 6 days home 2 nights the 6 more cause I was having Fluid and blood in my stomach. Dr told me sleep apniea is something kind new there learning more about

I have been told the primary motivator behind the sleep study is the insurance company. It wasn't a requirement for me until my employer changed insurance providers. My sleep study process has been THE most unpleasant part of this whole thing. Everyone I dealt with was nice but even my cardiologist said he thought it was silly to put people through this for weight loss surgery when losing weight usually eliminates the sleep apnea. This is the only part of the process that made me feel guilty for being fat. My CPAP will be delivered in the next week or so. It sucks but at least it was the last of my pre-op requirements.

It does suck at times. I have been on a bi pap since 09. But i was put on it when i weighed over 100 pounds less than what i am now. I'm one of the ones who prob won't be off of it ever because the shape if my throat and because of my shallow breathing. Just think when your done with this test your going to start your new journey. It's just a bump in the road for you.

I just had mine - now I wait for results - I know I don't have severe apnea - if I did they would have fitted me last night with a cpap.

I am also waiitng for my results from Sunday. I have a feeling it came back normal because they didn't have to use a cpap on me and I slept through the night like I always do. This test was a requirement for my insurance so I'm not worried.

I REALLY didn’t sleep well - BUT - the tech said he got enough data -

this lab makes you come back AGAIN to gage the pressure - which might make me jump off the edge having to do ONE MORE SLEEP TEST

Oh man, if they make me come back for another test we can jump off the edge together

Just keeps getting better.

On a good note - I have completed every single thing on the initial long list of pre-ops!!!!! So now I wait for everyone to fax their stuff into the office and I can find out they are submitting to insurance

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
