sherilynn 1 Posted February 13, 2007 Well, here I am at two weeks out. Feels good to be done with the gas. I said earlier that I'm glad I had to deal with intense gas for 11 days, than have port pain that so many of you have. So tonight was my first meal of 'mushies'. I had 3/4 of a Gortons Grilled fish fillet, and about 1/4 cup of creamed spinach. FULL, fabulous, fantastic. Took about 20 minutes, as I was pacing myself. I would LOVE to have this restriction last, but thats doubtful. Also cooked up a pot of chicken thighs, bought some shaved deli meats, more fish; and I'm off and running. Wow, hopefully the worst is over. Oh yea, and I'm down 16 pounds, and my BMI has dropped!!:clap2:

sherilynn 1 Posted February 13, 2007 Hey Jack, I do have a mushies stage; the fish is on the list. I suppose the spinach is not! Ugh...live and learn. I was told to keep it to about 4oz, which is right for what I ate.
sherilynn 1 Posted February 13, 2007 Looks like I 'paid' for my first meal. I had such tummy aches last night, and woke up this a.m. not feeling too well. I would venture to say it was the spinach, the way it 'digested'... - seems it never did!!! (sorry to sound so gross)

tonya66 13 Posted February 13, 2007 Man, I'm jealous, my doctor won't let me have any meat of any kind during my mushy stage. But, in 2 more days, I move to real food!
sherilynn 1 Posted February 14, 2007 Yes, I've quadrupled checked his list: baked fish fillets, boiled or stewed chicken! Tonight I had 2oz of chicken thigh meat; as I made Soup yesterday. I mushed it up really well in some of the broth from the Soup. I didn't have any of the onions or carrots. But I will say, my tummy is talking like crazy! Not sure if its liking it or hating it at this point. Time will tell!
jdee 0 Posted February 14, 2007 My surgery is March 1 and I am worried about being hungry during the weeks before the first fill. Do you get hungry those first 6 weeks?
juliegeraci 7 Posted February 14, 2007 You're doing great. Just stick to the diet and your weight loss will continue. Congrats.
Platinum 0 Posted February 15, 2007 I am a patient of Dr. Ortiz and we are on the liquid stage for 3-5 days and then to full liquids and then to mushies over a three week period for all three stages (anything through a straw, NO CHEW). I get to have solids after three weeks, not six weeks. Dr. Ortiz wrote the book "Lapband for Life" and he has performed over 4000 lapband procedures. I trust what he has told me but I guess every doctor is different. I plan to eat after my 3 week post op diet. Good luck to you all!
