I'm a little discouraged I'm almost 3 weeks out and I haven't lost any weight for the last week I know that your body fluctuates but I don't know why I haven't lost anymore. Honestly I am having trouble getting all of the Protein in and getting all of the Water in but I don't know why that would stop me from losing weight? Any thoughts? Words of wisdom?

If you aren't getting your protein and water in your body will go into starvation mode and hold on to every calorie you take in very fiercely. That's why it's common to stall when not eating enough. Keep trying and give your body a chance to catch up. Have you tried mixing Protein Powder in with sugar free pudding mix? That's the easiest way for me to get mine in if I'm behind on protein for the day. Also walk, walk, walk...I notice I tend to not lose as much if I miss my walking. It could be a hormonal monthly thing also. Keep hanging in there. Don't let it get you down :)

I hear if you don't get all your protein in you won't loose as well. Maybe that is what wrong.

I am at the same darn plateau. I get all my Protein and liquids in. I Eat nothing but Protein Shakes and Soups. I eat no carbs except what already comes in the protein. I limit my fats too. Yet I've gained a pound. Saturday I was at 249. Yesterday at 251. Today 250. :(

ADVICE PLEASE!

I vomited for the first time an hour ago and still having spasms and heaving after an hour. Someone please tell me this is going to stop!!!

It was totally my fault. I waited to long to eat. Got 2 oz grilled chicken and finished in less than 5 mins. It had no chance of staying down. This is awful!!! It's hard to break those bad habits.

Just an update :)

Still in hospital. This visit has been since the 25th of March. The doctors are still suspecting a leak. They are trying to give it time to heal, if that is what the outcome is. So I don't have a cat scan leak test until Wednesday of this week. Really at this point the only pain I have is from site where they put a drain tube in last week. I have my pic lines now and must say I absolutely love them. No more pain from blood draws, new ivs, new meds! Of course the most important thing is that I can get nutrients I need from the pic line.

My nurse tonight asked me when my original surgery was. When I told her she said wow its been almost a month since your surgery. (Ok she was exaggerating a bit) Makes me kinda to hmmmmm never thought anything like this would happen to me. So far I have been in the hospital from 3/14-3/18, 3/25-present, I've had more iv lines than I can remember (seriously), I have two pic lines, one drain, numerous chest X-rays, upper gi series with contrast, 4 or 5 cat scans (never had one in my life before this). I know way too many doctors and nurses now by first name! :)

Overall still not an experience I would wish on anyone. Not as hard or bad of a situation I thought it would turn out to be. I never knew how hard this would really be on my family if something went wrong. Ive worried my husband & parents to death! my plans of not telling My Extended family and some of my friends went out the window. had to tell them why I kept staying at the hospital. I'm jealous I'm behind my other 'march' post ops with drinking and eating and even exercising. I hope this motivates me even more that there is no way I would go through this whole situation and not make sure it works for me!

Wow that seems like a long post. Thanks for letting me rant! :) still wishing all the other post ops speedy and non eventful recoveries!!!

Im so sorry that you are going through this, I cant imagine. You will overcome this girl, I am praying for you. Dont feel behind, so u had a little setback but when you are able I know you will get back right on your feet. YOU CAN DO THIS! Stay strong, we are all here to support you!

It's been a few days!! Sorry I've missed y'all though!! Add me on myfitnesspal. It's easier if u search by email : kathypitcher@rocketmail.com. I'm doing good. Eating soft foods. I made the mistake of drinking through a straw the other day. Accidentally of course, and I was sick for almost an hour burping and puking until the HUGE air bubble I swapped finally decided to resurface.

I also want to tell y'all about my new favorite food!! I bought the fresh pico de Galla at Bi-lo in the produce section and I mixed about half of it with an avocado and mushed it all together. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Soooooo good!!

I want to see your food diaries on MFP so I can get some ideas!! My diary is viewable by MFP friends so add me!!

Love you guys. Prayers for you all!

They just moved me over to pureed foods and OMG I am so happy Kathy! Today I had so far a 1/4 cup of cottage chees and 1 scrambled egg but I couldnt finish the egg and now I am snakcing on tuna with a chopped pickle. I am looking for ideas as well and anything that helps with my Protein because the Isopure protien drinks and vanilla Protein Shakes I am SO sick of them!! Oh what is MFP??

My doc says you must get all your protein in at least 60-65 grams, this will help u to lose the weight. I know its hard TRUST ME, but you can do it!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
