Today is day 3 of my pre op liquid diet and the first two days I was so miserable and I cheated by snacking on frigging pickles so I felt like I was chewing something.... How pathetic am I. But I'm over it and today is a new day and I'm determined to get through the next 11days with no more distractions.... I keep looking at my sz 10jeans(I pray I get into these) as a motivation with my kids pictures next to them... I have to do this for all of us!!!! I must say I found the key to drinking a shake followed by another 9oz of broth.. Most of the time I can't finish the broth cause I'm fat full... Then I'm happy again and I feel like I don't have to cheat.... Does anyone have any ideas on how to mix my powdered Soups with out having the nasty clumps in them?? Thanks and I love this site!!!! So supportive *-*

Unjury asks that the Water won't be warmer than 140 degrees F to avoid clumps... I hope that helps. You can do it!!! :)

Just take it day by day and don't beat yourself up. They were just pickels! You are not pathetic! :-) We all have had slip ups. Just brush yourself off and move on.

Hang in there. Many people shared advice with me for getting through this stage. Now it's my turn to share. If you feel like chewing on something just chew it and savor it and crunch away but don't swallow it, spit it out.

Keep busy. My doctor told me to "Find something, before something finds you." This is true because most of us have addicted personalities. We have to say goodbye to our comforting friend named food and replace it with something healthy or we are at risk for falling into unhealthy addictions.

The pre-operative phase of this journey is one of the most difficult. Don't be hard on yourself for eating pickles. That was actually a good choice. Just keep moving forward and be positive. This will be all behind you VERY soon.

Yall are so amazing and I needed those words of encouragement. I must say I did let the pickle situation go and moved on*_* im finding that as the days go by the hunger situation is getting better and im not even that hungry. So I guess it does get better....I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Its remarkable that even though family and friends may not get it there is a community of amazing people who do care!!!! And as far as chewing and spitting never would have thought of it ...Now im smiling bigger than ever and continuing with my journey. Surgery will be on 3/14/2013!!! Yaaaaaahhhhh

If it helps, pickles were actually allowed on the first week of my pre-op diet :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
