Don't think you can have salads at 5 weeks yet... chicken, steamed veggies, very small amounts of mashed potatoes, lean beef, Soup, chili...depends on what stage you're in

Almost a year out. When I eat out I order salmon w/ veggies. Or I will get an add on shrimp and veggies. Depends on if I want to deal with leftovers. A normal restaurant meal will get me 3-4 meals depending on what I have ordered. Sometime I order off senior or kids menu. Depends on restaurant.

Usually I get some sort of cheesesteaj type thing and eat the thin slice steak and cheese. Philly omlets are my fav. Mexican restaurants are awesome because Beans and cheese goes down nice. Baked potatoes are a good staple at restaurants too.

Can't we get a card or something to keep with us stating we had WLS and allow us to order from kid menu. We just show that cars at the restaurant??

Ask your doctor for one. I have only had a problem with 1 waitress...she was new. I am a smart ass and offer to show scars. Lol

I have the Soups or a salad. But def ask your doctor for the card. My doctors office actually gave me 2 and I keep the extra in my husbands wallet just in case I forget mine. The card is also an emergency card because it has my doctors contact information on the reversed side. :)

I was given a key ring that explains the surgery and asks if it's okay that I order off the kids menu. However I do not use it. Have you stern the items on most kid menus? Not good stuff for us. I have found it easiest to order Soups or seafood. Take home left overs. You can get 3-4 meals out of it.

I'm not even going to ask for a card. Most of the stuff on the kids menu isn't healthy at all. I'd rather just order what I want and have leftovers for a few days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
