Approved...Now What???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just returned the call to my insurance company and I AM APPROVED!!! I got the message this morning, and was scared to call them back, didn't want to hear any bad news. I was shocked as I was finishing a candy bar as she said "your approved". Now, there is no turning back. I've told ppl at work (I had to schedule the time off), my partner and my family. I am totally scared now. I know this will pass, but man oh man...reality is setting in. I just wanted to post and share this info. Remind me why I am doing this! Thanks for letting me rant.

You are doing this because it is about time you faced yourself and did something for yourself, so that you will no longer be held down by your weight. You are putting yourself through the pain of recovery and the pain of a liquid diet because it will make you a stronger person and a better one...

AND most of all...you are doing this so you can wear a bathingsuit without teh stupid skirt around the hips or teh coverup shirt etc..YOU ARE DOING THIS TO LOSE WEIGHT

Way to go, and as nerves set in, just think of how much you can lose..look at me, I havent been banded a week and Ive lost 6 lbs already!!

CONGRATS:clap2:

i w dont know what state you live in but i live in mass.i am also new..it is along haul.. sfirst you have to see a nutritionist make sure u do what they tell u to do...you have to have a pysch evaluation, gallbladder ultrasound and you have to go to support group meetings after your first appt. with the nutritionist you have to go them again and they want you to start dieting right away..also you can not eat and drink at the same time anymore..that is wha i ahve been through so far

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
