Hey, is there anyone else with experience of having their lap-bands removed and now going thru by-pass surgery? I had mine put in almost 5 yrs ago and had to have it removed in August 2012; I lost 80 lbs the first year and felt fabulous and the next 3-4 yrs I stayed sick and throwed up EVERYTHING I ate!! I gained 40 lbs back, so since having it removed I've gained my 80 back and 50 more !! I have never felt so miserable in my life !! I can't wait to be healthy again!! Please share your stories with me, so I know I'm not alone !!

Thanks,

Janet

I am hating my CPAP too. Go to bed at 10:00 and will keep it on until around2:00 am then off it goes! One night it was 12:30. I don't know if I will ever get used to it or like it.

I had revision from the horrible lapband to bypass in september... It was the best decision ever. I had the LB eight years, never lost more than 30 pounds, i was always having problems and the last six months it was like i was drowning each night. Now i feel just a normal person feels... Finally i know what it feels like to be full i never had that with the LB ... Only that horrible stuck feeling)

I so enjoying sitting down and eating even a small meal with my family inside if standing up and hitting my port hoping it would let some food ( other than icecream!) go down .- my port was. Right between my boobs so i also felt that i looked like trazan!

Good luck with the new better life without that band!

By the way im six months out and down 93 pounds... Slightly addicted to sport and just signing up for a triathlon in june!!

I was banded about two months before Katrina hit my area. From the very beginning the band was a nightmare. I had it removed exactly two yrs later. Relief. I am now brave enough to start the gastric bypass journey. I have to admit, Im so afraid that it will "feel" like the band.

It feels nothing like the band ... It actually feels like nothing. No hard lump where the port is ( mine was right between my boobs and i could always feel it as my bra always pressed on it) its just so good to eat and enjoy the food and not worry if the food will pass through... It was weird at first learning that i could eat without being scared of chocking. You will be so happy with the bypass! Good luck

I wanted to ask everyone to see if yall have had this problem. I have never been able to burp in my life. Before the lap band I maybe burped teen times ever. While having the lap band, after like two bites of food I feel a strong pressure in my chest then my mouth waters and I have to run to the bathroom and put my finger down my throat and burp. After burping a few times (via finger) I can eat a few more bits before it happens again. I hate running to the restroom all the time especially at restaurants worried if I am close enough to the bathroom. Did anyone have this problem with the band? Did it go away with the bypass?

This would happen to me when I chose the wrong foods, like breads, and didn't chew enough or ate too much. Also if I drank and ate at the same time.

It happens to me no matter what I eat. bread is one of the easiest things for me to eat. No matter how much I chew chicken or meats I get sick. I can eat a lot easier later in the day when all the excess air is out of my stomach.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
