Congrats to you BethAnn. I pray it goes good for you. I feel the same way. I have been trying this low cal diet for a couple of weeks and haven't done so hot so I'm really scared about how I will do once I have surgery. I hope it will be easier :(

Been all over this app trying to figure it out. A lot of stuff to know. I'm totally new here. I'm due to have gastric bypass April 8th..the Monday after Spring Break uggh Anyway, could've had it mths ago but weather and scheduling conflicted with all the pre-op stuff. I currently live in WV and will be moving at end of May to Fayetteville NC. I am 42, married, and have two children. Last pcp appt had me at 301 abt 2wks ago.

Good luck in Fayetteville.... I hated that place. Our home was broken into several times along with all or neighbors.

Hi I am from fayetteville NC

Your from Fayetteville or just ended up there because of the military? I dreaded every moment I was there. My husband was stationed at ft. Bragg for a few years and I refused to live there because I never felt safe. I stayed in Texas until he got out of the army. I would visit for two months per year and the other times he was either deployed or would visit me.

What is so wrong with Fayetteville everyone keeps saying? My husband is already living there on a new job outside Ft Bragg. He is a veteran and we visit Bragg often.

I'm totally nervous about surgery. I feel like I'm about to take a big test and I haven't studied. Weird. My husband had the totally open version of the surgery many yrs ago when it first came out.

The countryside was nice, but I didn't get out there often. In Fayetteville, houses are broken into during the day when they know soldiers are at pt in the mornings. Just compared to where I've grown up, that place seemed so dangerous with peoples fighting pittbulls loose sometimes in the neighborhoods. I would notleave the house without a concealed weapon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
