Am I alone in this? Sometimes I'm really excited but I keep having this nagging fear it's just not going to happen for me. I mean, I've been on these diets I swore were for life, lost weight and felt proud of myself only to gain it all back. Rinse and repeat. It's almost as though I've become accustomed to expecting the failure now. I can't even picture myself thin anymore or imagine how it feels.

I try really hard not to be negative in life, but I'm so scared I'm going to fail.

I definitely don't think you are alone. I have lost and gained 70 lbs time and time again. So for me I have no doubt I'm going to lose weight with this but in the back of my mind I'm always thinking if I will gain it back.

We should just use it for what it is a "tool" and learn the real way to lose weight change our habits and keep it that way for life.

Good luck!!! We can do this!!!!

Well just stay positive and there are a few apps that can help such as food logs, reminders , Noom walk that has everything you need if you have android ..I feel the same way I'm 1 month 6 days and 38 lbs since last week , I'll be weighing in tomorrow after I hope I get released from the hospital just stick to the diets and when switching from liquid to soft puree food don't do like I did ,I was just switched last week to soft puree food and I had refried Beans and it didn't sit well so I been in the er so I guess it wasn't liquidify enough but it was on my pureed list so just be easy and download a food timer so it can help you time yourself while you adjust to your new stomach and new foods when you are approved to new food lol ...I feel the same way about failing but just appericate that life is about to change and that bite of not so healthy food would never be worth the change you are about to experience. Your going to go through the emotions I know I am if you need someone to talk to inbox me your email or other contact info so we can encourage each other, when did or are you scheduled for surgery? ....STAY POSITIVE

Im exactly the same..! I think we have been driven to expect failure due to our attempts over and over. Remember, just because you think it doesn't mean its a fact!

Thanks for the support, everyone! I think maybe yesterday was just one of those days. I found out that I'm being submitted to insurance for approval today and am feeling much more hopeful. I will not give up until I'm thin and healthy.

My advice is to take this fear and use it to your advantage. This is a tool for weight loss and not a cure. The great thing is that you look so much better and feel so much better very quickly. You can see and feel the results and get the satisfaction of knowing you are doing it - you are really losing the weight. You start getting the compliments and start feeling sexier and realizing your dreams. However there is a time when you start falling off a little. You are able to eat more and more things. You are able to eat the small bite of chocolate or drink a few sips of soda. This is when you need to use this feeling of failing. You need to have that talk with yourself that says you have a choice - continue with the good feelings or eat that piece of chocolate.

My moment came about 3 weeks ago. I was sick at home and stopped drinking my Protein Shakes and taking my Vitamins. I started eating things I knew were bad for me - but I was sick and did not care. I wanted the comfort food. After a week of this and gaining about 4 pounds the new Samantha had a talk with the old Samantha and they agreed that I worked to hard to go down that path. I am happy to report that I quickly lost those gained pounds and am back on track. I feel great and I am sitting at 99lbs lost - damm last pound will not go off!

Good luck!!! It is worth it!!!

Your not alone! Just take one day at a time... We can do this. This is something new I'm going to forget about all the stuff that didn't work and put all I have into this tool to succeed! (HUGS)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
