I’m still pre-surgery - but let me tell you - I’m a HUGE fan of the merina. I had huge bleeding issues and it reduced everything by 95% - what a blessing

Yes all done having kids.

Before my RNY I had a procedure called an ablation. The lining of the uterus is burned. I used to bleed verrrry heavy. After this outpatient procedure it is 100% better. Some women it stops cycle altogether.

If your done why not a hystorectomy?

Because reproductive organs are important in maintaining hormone levels. Hormone replacement is hard on the body. I know. I had the ablation donevand then a year later needed hysterectomy. Have been on hormones for 3 years and buddy talk about moid swings, hot flashes, cold chills...its a nightmare

I am not on hormone replacement. I was a bad bleeder and have had endometriosis and ovarian cysts all my reproductive life. They did two ablations with no relief. Finally after 5 years of asking my doc she finally took the uterus. I am so glad it is gone. No more heavy bleeding, or cramps. I still get the ovarian cysts from time to time. The iud was not an option for me due to an overly sensitive cervix. Just know you have lots of options.

Let me say mirena was awesome for my periods. However,it destroyed my orgasms!!! They were a piece of cake to have but the intensity was completely gone. My GYN thought I was nuts but had it take out 8 months later and the big O was back to normal! Just an FYI :D

HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 234.8

I have the mirena. The best part and only part I enjoy is the lack of cramps. I still get a monthly period and still heavy!! I also don't worry about getting pregnant now. But nothing is magical for me :)

Mine was before surgery as it was a requirement.

Have any of you used Paraguard? It is a hormone free IUD. I saw a commercial for it and was wondering about getting it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
