I am almost 6 months out after sleeve & my eyes are driving me NUTS! I have always worn glasses but am needing to now take them off to do anything up close, like trim my nails. I am also taking them off to read often. With it being 6 mos. out, is it safe now to get a new prescription? I'd hate to have my vision change again after spending the money!

Hi my vision started to blur the day I got on the diet and has gotten worst ever since. I'm very worried. It started on one eye, then both now my vision is blurry on both eyes and both near and far. Please help, I'm freaking out.

I have a great optometrist who told me a few years ago when I had lost 50 lbs dieting that rapid weight loss can cause temporary changes in vision. Sure enough, the glasses I got that day needed to be changed 3 months later--things had returned to pretty much what they had been before the weight loss. I think it's safe to expect we'll have some changes, at least temporary ones.

Please talk to an eye doctor. It could be as simple as changes in your blood sugar but I am not a clinician. You should talk to someone who is! BTW if you Google it you'll find articles on blurred vision with high blood sugar, and also with low blood sugar. Both can have a temporary effect on the lens in the eye. Nothing scary--just temporary. Always best to check with a professional when it comes to your eyesight! Don't let it scare you but get it checked out so you won't worry...

I am definitely noticing a change. Asked my surgeon's office about it yesterday and they said, yes - others had commented. Also that I should go ahead and schedule appointment with opthomalogist - it's due - because vision change is usually permanent.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
