I am trying to stay motivated but...

It seems like it is one thing after another.

I went and seen my Doctor's assistant to get my referral and start my 6 month supervised diet on the 21st of January. My appt with the surgeon was on the 31st. I had to call, and then go in just to make sure he sent it because he had been gone. If I hadn't of gone in, I would of had to reschedule. So that was the first hiccup.

I had labs done at the hospital, and ended up sitting there for 2 hours, because they didn't mark I also needed the ekg and chest xray. Yay.

Then my PCP wanted labs, even though I already had them done elsewhere. I went to the appt that they scheduled, and my Doctor's assistant forgot to order the labs, so I went there for nothing and even though I tried to explain to them I had them done, I had to go back the next week and do them anyways.

Then yesterday, I went to my 1 month checkup on the supervised diet and I seen my doctor's assistant again. As soon as I handed him the form, he said he couldn't do that, I had to see the doctor. Ok, I asked him my first go around if he could do it, and he said yes. I asked him if that meant this month didn't count, and he said it should. Ok, so I seen the doctor today.

Guess what...he isn't going to count the previous month. Even though I gave up soda, cut back on my eating out and junk food, increased my Water intake, started exercising, kept a log of all food I ate and exercise I did-still managed to gain a pound-it counts for nothing. So, now I am upset. I had everything planned out, I would have my surgery in the summer so I had more help with my baby. Now if I am lucky it will be at the end of August or early September....

I am just so freaking frustrated by this whole thing

Hang in there and stay on them. If u were at the doc tell them to fill you form out based on the chart notes for your missing month. Stay strong!!!! (HUGS)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
