rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia

Recommended Posts

I have lupus' date=' fibro, degenerative disc disease, and several others.....I'm hoping the surgery will help with all the pain. I have been unable to take my lupus med since surgery though and am a bit worried about that......I just hope this was the right choice[/quote']

Kat,

I am sure it is the right choice. Just stick to your plan and everything will workout. It took me about 4 months to be happy with my decision. For the first four I regretted it everyday. I could not keep food down and was sick the entire time. Now I can eat anything I want and would do this agin in a heartbeat!

That anti inflammatory med doesn't really work on me.

Hw 245; Pre-Op(RNY) 225.6; Surg Date 2/26; GW 145

It never has for me either. In fact they make me throw up violently. Try something called Volteren gel. It Is a topical anti inflammatory medication. You apply it to your joints that hurt. Ask your doc about it!

Its helped me emotionally so much to know that there is releif down the road. Gastric bypass won't cure me but hopefully releive the pain some.

This question is going to sound gross but I have to ask. Is vomiting with your new pouch like vomiting with a stomach? Is it still gut renching, painful, out your nose or is it more like a vomit belch in your mouth?

I was not someone who threw up much before gastric bypass. In fact I could count on my hands the amount of times I had thrown up pre op. that went out the window after surgery. I will not lie - so yes it is gut renching, and all together miserable. The easiest thing to throw up was Water which would happen on occasion if I drank too much. Just make sure to follow your plan set by your doc. I thought I knew my body and advanced too quickly and paid for it.

i also have rheumatoid arthritis. have had it 4+ years. i am 4 months pre-op RYN.

i am in constant pain night and day. but hoping the reduced weight will help with the joint paint. carrying around an extra 100 lbs is torture on the joints.

i am fortunate to live in Canada and the surgery would be covered undrr provincial health care. but it is a 5 year wait!!! so i have made plans to.do self pay in Costa Rica this august.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
