Recommended Posts

My nutritionist told decided I am allowed to have Beans but must be liquidity which I can add meats along to it but again must be consistent with a soupy and absolutely no texture . I also can have mashed potatoes but must be liquefied does anyone have any recipes? Is Wendy's Chili and KFC mashed potatoes liquefied enough or how can I make it soupy without ruining the flavor ?Is there any restaurant ideas or places I can try that is liquid that I can eat? Any ideas with this and tuna, chicken or seafood ideas that I can make soupy or runny as she said will help me please I'm 30 days post op and 38 lbs lighter 2 more months of liquid diet please help I need some flavor lol ....thanks in advance

Wouldn’t you rather make it yourself so you know exactly what goes into it?

I've had Wendy's chili and KFC mashed potatoes and gravy. I didn't need to purée the chili tho. Just chewed thoroughly. I'll admit that maybe the mash isn't a great choice (120 cal for individual container and a lot of carbs) but they both went down fine with no problems.

Yes I do make it myself I was asking in case I am out and about and don't plan to be home .... Girl I can cook I was just asking a question that wasn't hard to answer so I know what exactly liquidify meant if I were to eat out which chances are I'm not just one of those random questions that would be good to know if I need to ..

Okay thanks yeah I just wanted to know in general , I have a few friends 7+ years post off but their doctor and nutritionist allowed them to eat regular food within a month and I'm a month and 7 days post op and once again back on liquid bc my body didn't agree with the soft foods yet .....Thanks for the input

Cool. I'm a month and a few days post op too. I tried solid food but it doesn't sit too well with me even when I chew the hell out of it. So I just stick to shakes and things like chili, mash, yogurt etc. I had puréed cube steak and gravy and it was awesome (beside the fact that it looked gross lol)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
