angel1064 0 Posted February 12, 2007 I am new to this forum but have been active over at obesityhelp.com. I need some help. I am making myself crazy. Let me start here. I was banded in Oct 05...didnt start losing till feb/march....had a rough start. LOL. I am down almost 50lbs. I have the VG band and have 8.5 cc's in. My last fill was in NOV. 3 weeks ago i had a pus filled boil (externally) over my port incision....3 days later i went to my surgeon to have it checked. He lanced it with a scalpel and it drained blood/pus for a week. I have a flipped port that we decided to fix and at the same time he thinks i should have my port replaced and repositioned because of this infection i had. He is afraid that there might be some bad cells that would cause a port infection....etc...etc. This boil drained a LOT! so, it leads me to think it wasnt just a superficial thing. NOW, this leads me to say in the last 3 weeks i have gotten SUPER tight. tighter than i was. Havent been able to eat a whole lot at all. I do suck at my Water drinking tho. no nauseau, no reflux or heartburn and no pain. I cannot help but think my band is slipped or eroded! I cant seem to stop thinking about it and i am losing sleep over it. The more I read on the internet on these the more nervous and anxious i get. Someone please...if you have experience with either...help me stop obsessing....do you think my band is ok? Or am i just over reacting? Rose
Alexandra 55 Posted February 12, 2007 Wow, Angel, that sounds PAINFUL! I hope the lancing helped and it's all healing up now. It is true that an infection at the port site is often the first indication of an erosion, but the two are not inextricably linked. Obviously you need to have more testing done to set your mind at ease; nothing we say can alleviate your worry. Stress can increase restriction all by itself, so worrying about what's wrong with your band could be what's increasing your tightness. But there's only one way to be sure. Have you had a fluoroscopy done recently? What about an endoscopy? These are tests your doctor should prescribe to find out what's going on with your band. What's your next step? angel1064 0 Posted February 12, 2007 Hi! Well, I am waiting for my surgeon to call me. I emailed the nurses and they are forwarding it to Dr. Jones. I have requested a barium swallow before my surgery. There really is no pain at all th. It doesnt hurt in the least.

sunnysea 1 Posted February 13, 2007 I would also take your temp., Just to be sure that that you are not running a low grade fever from infection. I don't want to scare you but I do think it is something the dr. should watch for from your discription of your port area. I hope everything will be ok, Sunnysea
